Before the opening of the Baselworld show lots of rumors were going around. Many were talking about the new Rolex GMT-Master II with either a Pepsi (red and blue) or a Coke (black and red) bezel. So during the unveiling, a lot of eyebrows were raised when they saw the stainless steel Rolex GMT-Master II (ref 116710BLNR) that had a blue and black bezel.
We were just as surprised as everyone because we didn’t really expect the combination that Rolex ventured into this time. So we tried the watch during our appointment with the Watchmaker in BaselWorld. And you know what, it’s actually pretty nice to wear. It’s a good addition to the current collection of GMT-Master II timepieces.
History of the GMT-Master Replicas
We’re sure many of you are interested in knowing more about this watch collection so here’s a brief rundown of the GMT-Master. Rolex GMT-Master II (116710BLNR) In terms of functionality, there really has not been a lot of changes since we first saw the black bezel model of the stainless steel GMT-Master which is the 116710LN. It still had the same caliber 3186 movement (compare Swiss ETA 2892-A2 and the Chinese ST18) and had an extra time zone by means of an hour hand that can be separately set from the regular minute and hour hands.

The new look of the GMT-Master can be attributed to the blue GMT hour indicator and its bezel which is in black and blue. Similar to the GMT-Master II black version, it has a Cerachrom bezel. This is a patented method of Rolex that enables ceramic materials with several colors to become one. The older models before 2007 had aluminum inserts but the new ones which have cerachrom won’t discolor or scratch.
It’s worth mentioning that the red and blue bezels were quite cool but knowing how Rolex likes to change things, we can’t really blame them. The numerals and graduations on the bezel are covered with a thin coating of platinum applied by means of a PVD treatment.
